Divisionals were held on Sunday and it was a very long and very hot day.  Congratulations to divers Ben Severe, Pat O'Neill, Simon Carne, Mallory Donahue, Paul O'Neill, and Eric Olson for persevering through the heat and making All Stars.  All Stars will be held this Wednesday at East Gate Pool for the 8 and unders, 9-10s, and 11-12s, and then on Thursday at Flower Valley Pool for the 13-14s and 15-18s.  Both meets start at 5:00 pm.  Please come out and root for your fellow divers.

Other Updates

Volunteers needed for next summer!  It may sound early, but now that you know the summer routine, please consider signing up as a swim & dive volunteer for next summer.  In particular for swim team, we would love to sign up a new B Rep to replace Audrey King who has done it for the last several years.  We also need someone to replace Rachel Jabara for A Meet Food, and we need a new B Meet food person.

Want a DVD copy of this year's Swim & Dive Team slide show?  Ginny Maycock is taking orders for this year's Swim & Dive Team slide show.  She is making the copies this week so if you are interested please e-mail her at ginny.maycock@comcast.net and let her know.  The DVDs are $10 a copy.  Please pay via check made out to Seven Locks Swim & Dive Team.  She will leave them at the pool front desk later this week.

Here is the policy and it is also posted on the board at the pool:  Any swimmer who does not swim in a Saturday morning A-Meet is eligible to swim in the subsequent Wednesday evening B-Meet. Swimmers who place 1st-5th in an A-Meet event are not allowed to swim that event in the following B-Meet. However, swimmers who place 6th-12th (no ribbon) in an A-Meet event are allowed to swim that event in the following B-Meet. If a regular A-Meet swimmer would like to swim an event in a B-Meet in order to achieve a specific time or swim an "off-event", they may swim EXHIBITION (no ribbon) only with coachʼs advance permission. Swimmers should sign-up for each B-Meet on a sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board. Swimmers and parents may also e-mail Claire to register for the B-Meet (ClaireW820@yahoo.com). Please sign up for B-Meets no later than Tuesday evening (the day before a B-Meet). Please ask coaches if you have any questions!

Also, please check the board and sign up to volunteer to work at the meet.

Finally, we need food contributions for the snack bar.  If your child plans to swim in the meet, please sign up to bring food.  Food sales at meets are important fundraisers for the team and help keep our fees low.

Dive Team Updates

We hope everyone enjoyed a 'dive-free' Father's Day!

Practice:  This week practice will be a little different.  Wednesday will be a short practice from 4-5 so the pool can get ready for the home swim meet. Friday's practice will also be short as there is a pep rally starting at 5 PM

Mock Meet:  This Thursday, we will be having "Mock Meet" during practice.  A mock meet is where we will set up like it is a meet and have the divers dive in age groups. Warm-ups will begin at 4:00 then the mock meet will start at 4:30 and we should end by 6:00.  It is important for all divers to attend as it helps the new divers walk through the process of a dive meet AND it gives the coaches an opportunity to see all the divers and best place them for Sunday's meet.

Our first dive meet is Sunday, June 22nd verses East Gate at home.  The meet will start at 5PM with warm-ups beginning at 3:00.  And don't forget to enjoy the Swim/Dive pep rally Friday evening.

Swim & Dive Team Photos:   Calling all swim & dive team photographers!!   In addition to the world-famous slide show that's shown at the end of the season, we'd like to share team photos over the course of the season.  We have established a password protected, online location to post swim & dive team photos.  You can view photos, download full-resolution copies of favorites and place orders for prints.  So far, some photos of time trials on June 7 and the A Meet on June 14 have been posted.

If you have photos to share, please contact Ginny Maycock at ginny.maycock@comcast.net.  Photos can be uploaded directly from your computer, or you can provide them to Ginny for posting.

Questions?  Please check the Swim Team bulletin board every time you go to the pool. Notices about meets and activities, as well as sign-up sheets, will be posted there.  Volunteers are always needed!

Swim & Dive Team Updates

Swim Team Time Trials this Saturday, June 7, 2008

Time Trials will be held this year on Saturday, June 7.  Due to busy Saturday schedules, the warm-ups for Time Trials will begin a little earlier this year at 7:45am, with the meet starting between 8:15-8:30am. The meet will go for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Swimmers should bring their suits, goggles, towels and swim caps (if they wear one). Swimmers do not need to sign up for Time Trials, but just need to show up!  All swimmers are encouraged to try all strokes and races for their age group.

If unable to come to Time Trials, please email Claire (ClaireW820@yahoo.com) or talk to a coach at the pool to schedule a date and time to get timed.

Many parent volunteers are needed to help run Time Trials. Please help out the team by volunteering!

Important Note: In order to swim in the first A-meet, 15-18's must either come to Time Trials or email Claire a list of their most recent times (yards or LC meters is fine). Because the number of swimmers in the 15-18 age group is bigger than ever this season, coaches want to have the most accurate and up-to-date times on all swimmers!

Dive Team Update

The dive season has begun, and the team is EAGERLY seeking new divers!  All ages and skill levels are welcome.  Come jump, dive, and maybe even flip with coaches Eric Olson and Paul O'Neill this season.  Julia Dane will also be assisting with our young new divers.  Practice is every Monday thru Friday from 4-6 but you don't have to be there for the whole practice.  Swim team members can come before or after their scheduled swim practice. Currently, we have five scheduled dive meets at 5 PM on Sundays starting June 15th.  Not sure if it is right for you? You can try it for a week with just a $10 check to cover the required MCDL insurance.  Anyone interested in diving or if you would like more information, please contact Liz Wiedemann at lwiedemann@comcast.com or see coaches Eric or Paul at dive practice.

Attention Divers! Are you a bit cold in the water this week?  Then how about ordering an MCDL sweatshirt to keep warm?  This year, MCDL is selling MCDL t-shirt and sweatshirts at the beginning of the season instead of Divisional shirts at the end of the season. See Liz Wiedemann for the design and order from.

Divers - Want more practice?  This year, coach Eric will be offering private dive lessons Monday thru Thursday in the morning.  See Eric Olson for times and rates.
